Very original psyche-fueled Left Coast rock that takes the spacey ideas of, say, The Flaming Lips, and injects '60s haze, this concept album about a man journeying to a black hole is both abstract and yet easy to digest. To say it's a bizarre listen would be putting it mildly, as the island sounds, arena rock loudness, funk, jam, garage and classic rock moments all take on an other worldly feel. Though it's guitar driven, the band never stays with one formula too long, ensuring there's something for everyone to love here. Confusing, sometimes. Enjoyable, the entire time.
